SCOTTSDALE SNAPSHOT
RAVE-ing About Safety: Scottsdale's New High-Tech Caddie for the Phoenix Open
Scottsdale PD is rolling out their newest innovation ahead of WMO. Enter the RAVE Alert System – think of it as your personal caddie for safety during the 2025 WM Phoenix Open and beyond.
I don’t know what it is, but WMO always gets the one or two rainy days of winter. One year my buddy fell in the mud wearing white pants. I still laugh remembering it 😂. This year Scottsdale's not taking any chances.
For tournament-goers, getting connected is straightforward: simply text GOLF25 to 67283. But the system's reach extends far beyond the fairways and greens of TPC Scottsdale. Year-round residents can enroll in this statewide public safety initiative, customizing how they receive updates through text, email, or voice messages.
The RAVE Alert System has already gained significant traction across Arizona, with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office among several law enforcement agencies embracing the technology. It's part of a broader effort to modernize emergency communications throughout the state, with detailed information available through the Arizona Department of Administration's 9-1-1 Program website.
Also - starting Jan. 27, Greenway Hayden Loop will be closed between Bell Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard!
Historical Reference: The 2024 WM Phoenix Open faced multiple weather delays, making it one of the most disrupted tournaments in recent history, highlighting the need for better communication systems.

BUSINESS BUZZ
A Sweet Story: The Mother-Daughter Duo Behind Scottsdale's Most Charming Bakery 🧁
There's something comforting about walking into Sweet Dee's Bakeshop beneath Camden in Old Town. The aroma of freshly baked pastries mingles with the rich scent of Press Coffee, creating an atmosphere that feels like a gentle hug for your senses.
Danielle and her mother Linda turned their shared passion for baking into a neighborhood gem that's redefining what inclusive baking can be. I love that they have a ton of gluten-free options without sacrificing quality.
Their signature creation, playfully dubbed "Dee's Nuts," has become a local hit – these miniature donuts capture the essence of what makes Sweet Dee's special: creativity without pretension. But the real magic happens in their custom cake studio, where Danielle and Linda transform celebrations into edible masterpieces, one tier at a time.
The brunch menu deserves special mention, offering a thoughtful balance of sweet and savory that makes deciding what to order a delightfully difficult task. Pair any of their creations with a carefully crafted Press Coffee brew, and you'll understand why regulars consider this their second breakfast table.
Fun Fact: Press Coffee, their brewing partner, is an Arizona-based roaster known for its rigorous bean selection process and commitment to ethical sourcing.
Unleash Your Inner Ninja at Ninja Nation Scottsdale 🥷
I wanted to include this because it looks so cool! If you have kids or grandkids they’re going to love Ninja Nation. I’d describe it as an ultimate indoor obstacle course facility.
And whether you’re a weekend warrior, a family looking for action-packed fun, or someone with American Ninja Warrior dreams (like me!), this place has everything from warped walls to epic climbing challenges. They even offer open gym sessions, birthday parties, and classes for all ages.
Nothing in this section is sponsored. They're just local businesses I wanted to highlight. I'll always let you know when something's sponsored.
